About Fine Threads

Fine Threads is nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, in the tiny village of Putnamville. We are only 6 miles from Montpelier.

We offer individual and group classes in Bobbin Lace, Tatting and Needlework for both adults and children. Evelyn helps people demystify the complexities of these art forms in hopes that they will become a relaxing and fulfilling pastime. Check out our workshop page.

Fine Threads carries a full line of bobbin lace, tatting and needlework supplies. Our inventory includes pillows, bobbins, shuttles, threads and books. We also have many items that are not listed on the website. Evelyn also does custom lacework, check out our custom page for photos and details.

Visitors are welcome, however we do NOT have set hours.  It is best to call ahead to prevent disappointment.

Putnamville was first settled in the late 1700’s.  Originally it was a mill town that developed and made the world’s first spring-actuated clothes pin.  There are only 16 houses in our village. We border the Wrightsville reservoir, where you can go kayaking or swim near a waterfall.  We also bump up to state owned land that is home to a small park and a disk golf course.

Montpelier is the smallest state capital in the nation. The business district is only 2 blocks by 2 blocks. The population is less then 7500 people. It does have a bus terminal, Amtrak station, a hotel (The Capital Plaza) and plenty of places to eat.
